Structure
The structure of a vertical cement silo mainly includes the following components:
Silo Body: The silo body is the main structure of the vertical cement silo, typically welded from steel plates into a cylindrical or conical shape. To improve its strength and stability, reinforcing ribs are incorporated internally. The top of the silo has an inlet for receiving materials, while the bottom has an outlet for unloading.
Support Structure: The silo’s support structure mainly includes legs and a foundation. The legs can be fixed or adjustable, their primary function being to support the silo body and maintain overall stability.
Dust Removal System: The dust removal system consists of dust collectors, piping, and fans, effectively removing dust from the silo.
Arching Debrisor: To prevent material from arching inside the silo and affecting unloading, vertical cement silos are typically equipped with an arch-breaking device. This device can take the form of a pneumatic vibrator, air cannon, or mechanical vibrator.
Level Gauge: Operators monitor the material level within the silo using level gauges to replenish or stop feeding material as needed. Common level gauges include capacitive, radar, and ultrasonic types.
Unloading devices: Unloading devices typically include manual or pneumatic butterfly valves, screw conveyors, etc., used to control the material discharge process.
Working principle
First, operators feed material into the silo through the inlet. This conveying process is typically accomplished using pneumatic conveying, screw conveyors, or elevators. Once inside the silo, the material naturally accumulates under gravity. The silo’s internal space is specifically designed for material storage, and its actual storage capacity depends on the silo’s volume and the material’s density.
When material needs to be discharged, operators open the discharge device (such as a butterfly valve), and the material is discharged from the outlet under gravity. To prevent material bridging and affecting normal discharge, the system periodically or as needed activates an arch-breaking device to break up any arching structures.
During this process, a dust removal system continuously operates to remove dust from the silo, ensuring material flowability and maintaining good air quality.
